HGV Electrical Technician – Stockport

The core responsibility of this role is the installation, repair and refit of electrical components in the UK’s newest Infantry support vehicle – Boxer. The role will be based In Stockport at our brand-new purpose-built facility. Initially the role will require a minimum of 2 weeks training at our parent company in Munich.

Main Duties

• Undertake electrical wiring and component installation on military vehicles. Including the integration of systems and sub-systems.
• Problem solving and fault finding of systems and sub-systems and completion of any rectification work.
• The understanding and use of work instructions. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Understanding and adhering to standardised work
• The use of diagnostic software systems to complete initial installation of the vehicle software and diagnose / repair any issues
• Liaising with Procurement/Using SAP, order parts and equipment as necessary to fulfil job requirements
• Liaise with internal departments, supply chain and third party manufacturers on problems to achieve an efficient resolution.
• Complete all documentation and receipts / SAP bookings, including inspection sheets, and apply signatures / operator stamp as appropriate
• Undertake required training in Munich and thereafter in the UK. Support and deliver training to others.
• Ability to complete allocated tasks in a timely manner
• Willing to engage in the Company’s 5’s / housekeeping policy
• Driving / movement of the Boxer vehicle to required locations on site. Training will be provided.
• Completion of static testing / Execution of acceptance tests
• To comply with the Environmental, Health and Safety Policy and identify health and safety hazards prior to the commencement of work.
• To ensure their personal safety and the safety of all other employees is not compromised by their actions and to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with the regulatory agencies.
• Verification of performance data, reviewing of performance data, Logging and retesting.
• Monitoring of acceptance tests by GQAR.

Qualifications & Education
• Level 2 Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles or equivalent
• Level 2 Certificate in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Competence or equivalent
• Current and valid Driving Licence required
• Willingness to attend 6 months training at our parent Company in Munich
• Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
• IT Level in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing or equivalent

Relevant experience
• Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
• Experience of using data systems and being able to learn and adapt systems to assist in continuous improvement
• SAP experience
• Excellent IT skills and knowledge of MS programmes particularly Microsoft Excel Intermediate level, ability to manipulate spreadsheets.

Job Details:

Rate: £19.22 per hour

Hours: 37 hour week – Monday – Thursday 07:00 – 15:30 – Friday – 07:00 – 12:00
